PROJECT DETAILS
We are proud to announce that NDT Inspection Solutions is the first company in the SADC region to be accredited for inspection of Lifting gear and Lifting equipment under ISO 17020:12 in September 2023.
1. Magnetic Flux Leakage(MFL)
MFL Testing is an electromagnetic non-destructive testing technique used to detect corrosion and pitting on tank floors, top and bottom, and Pressure Vessels.
a. High Sensitivity: MFL is highly sensitive to small defects, making it effective in detecting corrosion, pitting, and other issues even in their early stages.
b. Fast Inspection Speed: The magnetic crawler moves swiftly across the tank floor, making MFL inspections faster compared to traditional methods. This efficiency is particularly valuable in minimizing downtime during routine inspections.
c. Minimal Surface Preparation: Unlike some other inspection methods, MFL requires minimal surface preparation. This means that tanks can be inspected without extensive cleaning, reducing operational disruptions and costs.
d. Comprehensive Coverage: The magnetic crawler ensures comprehensive coverage of the tank floor, including areas that may be difficult to access using other inspection techniques
Advantages of using MFL
- High-speed inspection
- One of the few methods used to inspect storage tanks and finned tubes.
- Can be used on all ferromagnetic materials.
2. Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM)
Alternating Current Field Measurement (ACFM) is an advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) technique designed to detect and size surface-breaking cracks in metals through coatings with an excellent surface tolerance.
The technique has been used successfully to supersede traditional non-computerised and more user-dependent methods, such as magnetic particle inspection (MPI). The system’s precision in accurately sizing defects provides essential information, enabling engineering decisions that safeguard and prolong the lifespan of these valuable assets.
3. Remote Access Ultrasonic Crawler
Use of Remote Access Ultrasonic Scorpion crawler brings major efficiency and data improvements to tank shell inspections and other structures such as vessels and offshore installations and aids in API 6550/653 compliance. This is a powerful solution for in-service inspection of storage tanks.
4. Radiographic Testing and Interpretation
Radiographic Testing (RT) is a non-destructive testing (NDT) method which uses either x-rays or gamma rays to examine the internal structure of manufactured components identifying any flaws or defects. Radiography testing is excellent in detecting surface flaws as well as sub-surface flaws. This testing method provides a solid record of the assessment performed in radiographic testing, the part to be inspected is placed between the radiation source and a piece of radiation film.
5. Hardness Testing
The process of testing surface hardness by applying a specific, known force on the testing surface, allowing us to know the strength of metal, is called hardness testing. Hardness testing lets us know how much pressure a material can withstand before it changes in shape.
